Gradara Classico borgo antico, racchiuso da una lunga cinta muraria dove l'imponente scenografico castello, superbo esempio di architettura militare, completa il centro medievale. La Rocca fu ultimata dai Malatesta tra il 1307 e il 1325 e in seguito restaurata più volte. Vuole la leggenda che, proprio a Gradara, Casa Malatesta abbia vissuto la tragedia d'amore di Paolo e Francesca, cantata da Dante: "La bocca mi baciò tutta tremante..."
